From the eastern side of Cerro St. Lucia and until the end of Parque Forestal, where the bohemian Barrio Bellavista born, we find this truly urban oasis, with ancient properties that resist the modernization of the city.

Known as Barrio Lastarria, Barrio Bellas Artes, Barrio St. Lucia, brings together the highlights in Santiago patrimonial architecture. The district has established itself as such with the remodeling of Cerro St. Lucia between 1872 and 1910 on the occasion of the centenary of Chile, to which was added the construction Palacio de Bellas Artes and the creation of Parque Forestal. Important personalities of our political and intellectual history lived ion the area, as Don Benjamín Vicuña Mackenna, Pedro Aguirre Cerda, the painter Nemesio Antúnez and the novelist Luis Orrego Lucco.

In the late twentieth century begins to recognize its importance for tourism to renew the environment. Lighting are increased and pedestrian walkways were created among which the Lastarria street, where works on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays an attractive Antiques Fair.

A variety of cafes, restaurants and bars increase the activity of the place, becoming a tempting picture spend an afternoon touring the streets and passages.
